Megat Najmuddin screen shot

Megat Najmuddin,UMNO disciplinary committee member chooses Selangor as a state worth analyzing ,due to its populated mixture of people regarding financial income and religion.

He calls ‘regressing’ as a major issue in the leading party, for example the discontinuation of the Alam Flora contract(privatized waste company management) leaves all the waste to small companies which they do not have capacity for.

Mr.Najmuddin adds that the objective of leader is to lead not to blame,

“acting on people to help take care of the rubbish must not be forgotten ,we have to think outside the box,as for Penang the local government has reduced the plastic trend over the past years by inviting people to collaborate”.

(MBPJ) Petaling Jaya council member ,Derek Fernandez with a slight difference says that “we

must appreciate the concept of a government which never governed before,Pakatan Rakyat as an unexperienced party took it’s time to improve”.

Since Petaling Jaya City Council reformed under the new state government ,there were definitely marked improvements in giving service to Rakyat ,one of them was the green policy to reduce the waste of Selangorians.

“In order to improve, you have to understand the obstacles and be open for help. There is a reservoir of talent which is not tapped at it need to be dealt with responsibly”.

Change of prime minister challenges Malaysian media policy

Ahmad Zainon (The sun consultant editor) shows concern toward the media regulations, as prime minister Najib delivers a speech about media being more open.

On 24th of september He adds that if there is going to be more freedom regarding the media policies , people will put it in test by challenging it time to time to see if there is any change or not.

Zainon Says,”a Press Council might be a good starting point for the freedom of press”.

Although the press council which is based to self regulate itself started working back in Tun Razak’s time but it never got serious as Zainon describes.

He issues the problem as reluctancy, as the council tries to overcome a regulation, there is a chance of hitting more obstacles as well. So many laws linking to the press, therefore removing one would not challenge the ministry.

Press council self regulation is a need for any country to success, some say that it should be regulated rather than self regulated, some show concerns about the financial problems, as a new rule takes place, opportunities for ripping off publishers and printers increases , all this makes the press to back off  rather than proceed.

Are Selangorians in verse of water crisis?

“We have enough water for Selangorians”Dr.Yakoob Sapari on water crisis scandal.

As he adds “if the forest gets conceived ,and the rain patterns stays  the same, with a good utilization of resources,i’m confident that we will not encounter any crisis soon”

Tricia Yeoh ,research officer in Selangor state government said on 4th of October,”Selangor’s water ownership is shared between the state and federal government. For better efficiency privatizing of water companies seemed to be the solution but it was the exact opposite.”

Since February  2008 Selangor’s government is trying to buy over the assets of private companies such as Shabas, but now they are  compromising.

“..if you don’t subscribe to the belief that private companies should profit completely,at the expense of people and task payers money, then they should agree and support the Selangor Government in pushing for holistic restructure.”

“Selangor will have crisis in definite.” Mr.Piarapakaran former secretary general of water and energy consumer association of Malaysia said on monday.

“Officials are stuck in political debate and no engineering calculations. Natural Water Resources Study plan is a confident  study plan which outlines that the crisis is near. The flaw in the study is a 10 percent miscalculation in the NON-revenue water which is considered to be  critical. “

Lack of planning pollutes traffic !

“Exceeding the railroads will not do any good except bringing more congestion and traffic to the Subang area”State-assembly Person Hannah Yeoh.

Adding more ways to public transportation such as trains and more busses is one of the answers, which governments bring on the negotiation table, but as Mrs.Yeoh, argues, “… Without coordination between busses and the ,LRT, this idea can turn out to be the cause of more traffic and not the solution.

Lack of drivers, standard expressways and budget is one of the few barriers, which makes the transportation even harder for the Subang residents.

“The government must look at this problem with a holistic point of view” Zulkarnain says, meaning that the planning should be for all the regions not each place with its own set of rules and regulations.

He adds that the needed funding for public transport should be collected via either taxes and parking fares or tolls and budgets set specifically for such purposes.

Mr.Zulkarnain also points out that the idea of public transportation tends to be misunderstood in general.Spreading out a general information on how to step up and take action may help the people help themselves. Holistic inter-connected planning can change the public point of view towards the transportation.
